Ask anyone in Delhi NCR's property market for the most coveted address in Gurgaon, and most will give the same answer before you finish the question: DLF Golf Links.
It did not start as an address. It started as a golf club. DLF built the DLF Golf and Country Club off Golf Course Road, and then did something no one in India had done at that scale: it put its finest homes around the fairways, and ran them the way a good hotel runs its rooms.
This is the story of that enclave, told through its four names: The Aralias, The Magnolias, The Camellias and, most recently, The Dahlias. Each one raised the bar a little higher than the last.
What DLF Golf Links actually is
DLF5 Golf Links is a gated green belt of about 200 acres along Golf Drive in Sector 42. At its centre is the DLF Golf and Country Club, with two courses: a 9-hole Arnold Palmer course that was the first in India lit for night golf, and an 18-hole, par-72 Gary Player course that has hosted the Indian Open.
Around the courses runs The Sanctuary, a 6.8-hectare landscaped park with a walking track of more than 2 km. Three lakes are filled with treated water from DLF5's own treatment plant. Golf carts shuttle residents between the towers and the clubs.
Why it became the most expensive society in Gurgaon
Three things set it apart, and none of them can be copied quickly.
The land. A golf course in the middle of a city is not something a new project can add. Homes here look over greens and water, not over the next tower.
The service. Residents have a concierge run by the lifestyle firm Quintessentially, doctors on call, a nurse round the clock and an ambulance on site, an emergency phone in every home, laundry pick-up, in-home catering and a children's club.
The scarcity. There are only a few hundred homes in each community, and owners rarely sell. When they do, buyers are often waiting.

The Aralias: where it began
DLF The Aralias was the first of DLF's super-luxury homes on the golf course. Its towers are lower than their neighbours, so there are fewer floors, fewer families to a lift and a calmer lobby, yet many homes still look straight down the fairways.
Every home is a 4 BHK of about 5,575 to 6,000 sq ft. At about Rs 62,000 per sq ft, a home starts near Rs 34.5 crore. For a buyer who wants the golf course without a 38-floor tower, this is usually the first stop.

The Magnolias: room for the whole family
DLF The Magnolias took the idea further. Its 4 and 5 BHK homes of about 5,825 to 5,875 sq ft give every generation of a joint family its own room, and duplex penthouses of about 9,175 and 9,800 sq ft sit at the top.
At about Rs 69,000 per sq ft, a 4 BHK starts near Rs 40.5 crore and a penthouse near Rs 63 crore. Most homes face the course; homes on the far side face the estate roads, so the view is the first thing to check on a visit.

The Camellias: the peak of the market
DLF The Camellias is where DLF aimed for the very top. Sixteen towers of 18 to 38 floors rise over the golf club, the tallest at 156 metres. Hafeez Contractor designed the towers, the Rockwell Group of New York the clubhouse and SWA the gardens, and it was the first home project in India rated LEED Platinum.
Homes of about 7,200 to 13,000 sq ft are sold as Classic, Signature, Imperial and Presidential residences. At about Rs 99,000 per sq ft, even the smallest costs close to Rs 71 crore, and some have sold for well over Rs 100 crore. That is why, when people ask for the most expensive society in Gurgaon, this is the name they hear.

The Dahlias: DLF's newest name in the line
DLF The Dahlias is being built a short distance away in Sector 54, in DLF Phase 5. It continues the line with about 420 homes in nine towers: 4 and 5 BHK duplex apartments and penthouses of about 9,500 to 16,000 sq ft, registered with HRERA Gurugram as GGM/872/604/2024/99.
